Marking another revolutionary milestone, in the history of Sri Lankan Percussion Art. Sharing the rhythm of humanity witnessed the incipience of “Thuryaa” the first ever women s’ drums ensemble in Sri Lanka. Seeded within the walls of University of the Visual and Performance Arts, the ensemble was formed with 9 talented under graduate minds. Shaping with the essences of Kandiyan, Low country & Sabaragamu the tri tradition of the Sri Lankan percussion art mixing with offshore percussion music we set our path on a colorful effort to research innovate and create a unique masterpiece.

The Women’s Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Sri Lanka (WCIC) recently held a unique ‘Women Leadership Forum’ under the theme ‘Unlocking Her Power’.
WCIC Leadership Forum unlocks the power of women
It was held with the objective of harnessing the economic power of women to gain recognition and to improve their lives while stimulating economic growth. A captive audience of over 150 entrepreneurs and corporate women attended the event featuring experts such as Indira Malwatte, Tusitha Kumarakulasingam, Ramya Weerakoon, Jayomi Lokuliyana, Indrani Fernando, Gayani de Alwis, Sanath Fernando, Anura Ekanayake, Nayana Karunaratne and Prasanna Hettiarachchi.
